Welcome to the Seasoned Skillet.com.
Please come back soon because I'm adding things all the
time.
My site is dedicated to using cast iron for cooking.
I like cast iron specifically for several reasons:
- It produces a dry, uniform heat. Some other
materials can cause moisture to form between the
product being cooked and the utensil's suface.
- Cast-Iron cookware, when well-seasoned, makes one
of the best non-stick surfaces. Many "artificial"
non-stick surfaces can emit toxic gases when used
above medium heat levels.
- It actually puts iron into the food you eat.
Cooking with cast iron actually makes your food
healthier by putting more iron in your diet.
- It's fun. Cooking-with and caring-for cast-iron,
as traditional as it actually is, is a little
different than what most people today are used to.
It offers a fun alternative, and imparts a
distinctive flavor to foods.
